About

Hi there, I'm Mary Kate.
I'm so happy to meet you, thanks for stopping by!
I have loved happily-ever-afters as long as I can remember. MKM Fine Arts was actually born when I started sketching wedding dress designs in elementary school. While I never realized my dreams as a designer and seamstress, I still found myself playing a part in creating happily-ever-afters for couples head-over-heels in love.
My approach to wedding days focuses on the little moments that tell your special love story. Whether I'm photographing or painting, those intricacies are what makes each big day memorable and unique. In photography, we often describe this as a 'documentary-style' approach. That just means that I'm there to capture the little unscripted moments: tender kisses, inside jokes, celebratory hugs, and of course, silly moves on the dance floor. I also help guide you through classic shots to make sure you feel as radiant as you look!
My favorite moment during my paintings is seeing the joy on the newleyweds' faces during the big reveal! It is so much fun to interact with guests as they circle back to check on my progress. They often share sweet stores about the bride and groom and each of those becomes a personal touch that is influences the final painting, bringing it to life.
I am a classically trained painter and photographer. I graduated with my Bachelor of Fine Arts from Ohio Wesleyan University, concentrating in photography, painting, and ceramics. I went on to get my Master of Fine Arts from Ohio University concentrating in painting. I have gone on to develop my own style focusing on capturing bright, bold memories.
When I'm not painting or photographing, I'm likely playing with my cats, Biscuit and Gravy, tending to my increasingly out-of-control collection of plants, or running through the trails of my hometown, Athens. I love to travel and I take my camera on every adventure to capture those unforgettable experiences.
I can't wait to be part of your unforgettable day!
